Everything you need to know about HarmoniQ — the technology, the installation, the savings, and the commercial model.

The Technology

HarmoniQ cleans the electrical current flowing through your network — eliminating harmonic distortion, reactive current, and phase imbalance at the source. With clean current, your equipment draws less electricity to do the same work. The energy that would have been wasted as heat in cables, motors, and transformers is simply never consumed. Unlike conventional power factor correction that only masks the problem at the meter, HarmoniQ corrects the current throughout your entire network.
Traditional capacitor banks correct power factor at the incoming feed — the meter point. This avoids utility penalties, but the dirty current still flows through every cable, motor, and transformer inside the network. Your equipment still draws distorted, reactive, unbalanced current — still wastes energy, still overheats, still ages prematurely. The meter looks better; the network does not. HarmoniQ is fundamentally different: it cleans the current across your entire network, so every piece of equipment downstream actually receives cleaner power, draws less current, and runs cooler. That is what delivers the 10–25% energy savings and 2–4× equipment life extension that meter-point correction alone cannot.
Yes. HarmoniQ's core Electrical Current Balancing System is protected by granted patents. This unique approach to cleaning electrical current across all harmonic orders simultaneously is what sets us apart from all competing solutions and cannot be replicated by conventional power quality products.
HarmoniQ is compatible with all sub-600V electrical equipment — including induction motors, variable speed drives (VSDs/VFDs), UPS systems, HVAC chillers and air handling units, LED and fluorescent lighting systems, server and IT infrastructure, rectifiers and battery chargers, and all other linear and non-linear loads. It works with both single-phase and three-phase systems.
Yes. All HarmoniQ hardware is independently tested and certified: ETL Listed (Intertek) covering US and Canadian safety standards, CE marked for EU conformity, FCC compliant (Part 15, verified non-interference), EMC tested by Intertek, and Type 4X rated for indoor and outdoor installation. The system is designed to meet or enable compliance with IEEE 519-2022, IEEE 1459, IEEE C57.110, IEC 61000, and ISO 50015.
HarmoniQ is shunt-connected — it does not bear your facility's live load and is not in the power path. If the system is ever taken offline for any reason, your facility continues operating normally. You simply revert to the power quality and consumption levels you had before installation. There is no interruption risk, no explosion risk, and no safety hazard — unlike capacitor banks, which carry live load and can fail catastrophically.
The IEEE Arrhenius Law of Thermal Degradation shows that motor insulation life doubles for every 10°C reduction in operating temperature. HarmoniQ reduces equipment operating temperatures by up to 20°C — extending motor and transformer lifespan by 2–4×. This means a motor rated for 5–7 years could last its intended 20-year design life under HarmoniQ conditions. The maintenance cost reduction and capital deferral this creates often exceed the direct energy savings.

Installation & Operations

HarmoniQ is installed in parallel on the line side of your electrical network via spare breakers or fuse disconnects — meaning your operations continue uninterrupted throughout the entire process. Installation takes as little as 1 day for a single unit to 2 weeks for complex multi-panel sites. No rewiring or modifications to your existing equipment are required. Our certified engineers handle the full installation and commissioning as part of The HarmoniQ Pilot Protocol.
Following a site assessment and agreement, most installations are completed within 1–2 weeks. This includes equipment configuration and on-site commissioning. Simpler sites can be installed in as little as a single day. Larger or more complex multi-panel installations may take longer depending on site access and coordination requirements.
Yes. The HarmoniQ software platform integrates with most existing BMS, SCADA, and energy management systems via standard protocols (Modbus, BACnet, MQTT). Data from HarmoniQ can be exported to your existing dashboards, reports, and utility billing systems. Our team handles integration during commissioning.
HarmoniQ hardware is designed for continuous 24/7 operation with minimal maintenance. Annual inspection visits are recommended and included in rental agreements. The active power filter has no mechanical components subject to wear. Remote monitoring via the software platform flags any anomalies before they become issues.

Savings & Results

Savings are measured against a baseline established during the pre-installation site assessment. We measure actual energy consumption (kWh), power factor, peak demand, and utility penalties before and after installation, using industry-standard power analysers. The range of 10–25% reflects the variation across different site types — facilities with worse starting power quality see higher savings. Full methodology detailed in our article on weather-normalised savings verification, which follows IPMVP, ASHRAE Guideline 14, and ISO 50015 frameworks.
Power factor and harmonic improvements are immediate and measurable from the moment the system is commissioned — you can see them live on the day of installation. The financial savings show up on your next utility bill. Equipment temperature reductions are typically observed within the first week of operation.
We offer a free power quality assessment where our engineers analyse your electrical network and show you the savings potential before any commercial commitment is required. If you don't see the power quality improvements and energy savings we project during the demo, you have no obligation to proceed. Our rental contracts include performance benchmarks tied to the projected savings established during site assessment. Post-installation performance is verified against a weather-normalised metered baseline.
Yes. The energy reduction delivered by HarmoniQ directly reduces your Scope 2 (purchased electricity) emissions. Our software platform automatically calculates and reports CO₂ avoided based on the grid emission factor for your location. This data is formatted for use in sustainability reports, ESG disclosures, and ISO 50001 energy management systems.

Commercial Terms

We offer two models: (1) Rental — a monthly fee that is typically covered entirely by your energy savings, meaning cashflow-positive from day one with no capital outlay. (2) Purchase — a one-time capital investment with full ownership. We work with you to find the structure that best fits your capital allocation preferences and financial objectives.
The economics work best for facilities spending $500k or more per year on electricity. For sites below this threshold, the savings are still real but the unit economics of deployment may not be as compelling. Contact us and we'll give you an honest assessment of whether HarmoniQ makes sense for your site. See The Hidden Cost on Every Industrial Electricity Bill for how the savings mechanisms compound.
Yes. We have deployed across Europe, the Middle East, and North America, with over 120 sites in 15+ countries. Our equipment is designed and certified for both 50Hz and 60Hz electrical systems. International deployments are managed through our network of certified regional partners and our in-house international operations team.
